Aoife McInerneyWhere Are You From And How Did You Get Here?

I’m originally from Limerick and have been in Cork since 2003, passing through Dublin, France and Spain along the way. I graduated from UL with a BA in European Studies and from DCU with an MA in Translation Studies. After graduation, I spent over a decade with a SaaS MNC. Following that I ran my own Marketing consultancy for 3 years providing digitalisation services, ecommerce development, along with event management and marketing campaigns. Most recently, I worked as a senior project manager for a property developer in the Social Housing and Healthcare market.

When Did You Become Involved With New Frontiers And What Appealed About The Role?

I joined New Frontiers as a Programme Manager in October 2022. For me, it’s the excitement of supporting companies from the very seed of the idea as it develops into a fully formed product/service and winning their first, of hopefully many, customers and supporting them through the inevitable challenges along the way. It’s a privilege to witness their journey, and being able to support these entrepreneurs brings great purpose to the role.

What Do You Feel Are The Qualities You Bring To The Role?

The positions I have held in my career to date have all contributed to my understanding and passion for how companies grow and succeed. Working in a SaaS multinational gave me great exposure to a variety of departments including Customer Service, Marketing, Product Development and Project Management and the importance of how a cohesive team and positive work environment is vital for growth. As a consultant, I saw what small businesses can achieve and the challenges they can overcome with the right supports. I’m pragmatic and understand the commitment and drive that’s required from entrepreneurs over a long period to bring their vision to fruition

What Is It About Business And Start-Ups That So Interests You?
